BLI Summer Jam artist Meghan Trainor is back for a second time. Meghan is from a tiny island off the coast of Massachusetts called Nantucket. Mainly I think of the 90’s TV show “Wings” when I think of Nantucket. It might be a small island but it has a lot to offer. Lets discover Meghan’s home!

Obviously, Nantucket is covered in beautiful beaches. If you go there you will be spending a lot of time on the water. I don’t need to encourage you to spend time at the beach. However, there are loads of other activities to fill your time with.

Nantucket is filled with interesting nautical inspired museums. Check out the Whaling Museum and learn all about these wonderful creatures. Or discover old shipwrecks and the Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum. They also have an aquarium. The animals they have are constantly changing and they always release them back into the wild.

Art and Culture

It is not a surprise that Nantucket has a thriving performance scene. Catch a movie or an exhibit at Dreamland Film and Performing Arts Center. The Artists Association on the island now boasts over 20 different art galleries to check out.

Local beer and food

Any good vacation has lots of good food and beer. As an island seafood is in abundance and going to restaurants that serve locally caught seafood is easy. A cool option for drinking is Cisco’s brewery. Not just a brewery or a winery but also a distillery! With live music and a laidback scene. If you want locally grown produce head over to Moors Farm for a really rustic experience.

Fishing/Sailing                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The island offers great sailing excursions to get out on the sea. Rent a boat for the day or for the week! Or rent some gear and catch your own fish. Whether you find a nice place on a pier or do a fishing excursion you can catch a dinner!
